Matin & Young Law has been set up by Harun Matin and Najmin Matin, both having previously worked for well established firms in their areas of specialisms. Harun and Najmin decided to build a firm that is built around looking after their clients and building and developing relationships with them.

With over 15 years of dedicated practice in criminal law, Harun has built a reputation as a skilled advocate and trusted advisor for clients facing the most challenging circumstances. Harun's career has been defined by a commitment to protecting individual rights, ensuring fair treatment under the law, and delivering strategic, results-driven defence. Harun has successfully represented clients in cases ranging from serious crime such as murder, terrorism, complex fraud, conspiracies, drugs offences, serious sexual offences as well as international criminal matters such as extradition and deportation. He is known for his calmness under pressure and his dedication to his client's cause. He has consistently achieved favourable outcomes by relying on his personal traits of hard work and perseverance and combining those with his technical legal analysis and aptitude for problem-solving. He always ensures to keep his clients fully informed on every step of the process ensuring that they have understood everything that is material to their case. Harun's varied experiences within criminal law have taught him that every case is unique, and he is dedicated to formulating strategies to the specific needs and circumstances of each client.

Najmin is a well-regarded family law practitioner who undertakes all aspects of family work, from public children law matters where a local authority has safeguarding concerns, to private law disputes, divorce and financial matters and the negotiation of settlements of all values. Najmin regularly handles sensitive Children Act matters and is skilled at preparing her clients for complex fact-finding hearings involving serious allegations of harm, abuse, and cases involving parental alienation and implacable hostility. Known for her insightful and trauma-informed approach, she has a deep understanding of the interplay between family law, mental health and trauma and how this affects her clients and their children. Najmin is an advocate for victims of domestic abuse and is frequently instructed to obtain Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders for clients, often on an emergency basis. As well as helping victims of abuse, Najmin also acts for those who have had injunctions served on them wrongfully or based on insufficient evidence and is well-versed in this field. By combining an empathetic manner with a firm and strategic approach, Najmin works closely with her clients to develop clear goals and realistic routes to strategise the best outcome for their case. Najmin believes in giving pragmatic advice to achieve rewarding, long-term outcomes for her clients. Many of Najmin's clients come from recommendations from current or previous clients. Najmin is a member of the Family Law Advanced Accreditation Scheme, a recognised quality standard for specialist family law practitioners awarded by the Law Society.

Trainee Legal Executive MCILEx – Family Law
Maria has extensive knowledge and experience in the national and international legal field both as a legal practice manager and a caseworker. As a practice manager, Maria has worked for and has been instrumental to the success and the development of two established and well-known large law firms in London over the past years. As a caseworker, following the successful completion of her Level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice at CILEx Law School, Maria is currently undertaking the final stage of her legal training to qualify as a Cross Jurisdiction Lawyer in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Maria has over 6 years' experience in UK family law and possesses extensive knowledge and expertise in this legal practice area. She has successfully dealt with family matters including child contact arrangements, child enforcement orders, domestic violence, divorce, non-molestation orders, prohibited step orders, occupation orders, specific issue orders, varying and discharging orders and undertakings, amongst other cases. Maria is additionally proficient in dealing with a range of contract, entertainment and intellectual property litigation matters and she has recently undertaken and completed a period of training in these practice areas at two well-known and established law firms in California and Florida covering both State Law and Federal Law. Maria is very professional, knowledgeable, dedicated and committed to achieving success in every case that she handles and is always praised by clients and legal professionals alike for her passion, work ethic and excellent communication and mediation skills.
